Child Dies After Shooting

A five year old girl is dead after a shooting at her home.

Sierra Brooke Hensley died Tuesday night at the Kentucky Children's Center in Lexington.

The shooting happened Monday night in the Burning Springs area of Clay County. Police say the girl's 16 year old brother accidentally shot her in the head when the gun he was playing with went off.

Police believe the shooting was accidental but the investigation is ongoing.

I'm so sorry for this family's loss & the impact it will have on the young man involved. A family I know experienced a similar loss just over a year ago & the pain has not even begun yet to subside. My thoughts & prayers are with this family and their friends.

You know a pat on the back and just letting them know you are praying for there family goes along way..For the love of God lift up this family this has not only taken one child but will probably destroy the son also..Ask yourself something is your house child proof (where are you kitchen knives, where is your head ache meds, ect..) I'm sure you get my point..stop throwing stones. Lift this family up if you was not there STOP PUTTING THEM DOWN..I'm sure they have already went threw enough..May God Bless This Family..And I Pray PEACE on them also...

This is all so horrible and people shouldn't blame the parents, they are good people. The father is a good christian man. You all are wrong about one thing-even the news reported it wrong. It wasn't the little girls brother who shot her, it was her mom's younger brother. My heart goes out to them all. Brooke was a beautiful child. We should all be there for the parents, not pointing fingers and playing the blame game.

why was a 16 yo playing with a gun anyway. where was the gun lock that is provided FREE. I think the parents should at least be charged with neglect for NOT having a lock on that gun. A 16 yo is still NOT old enough to be fooling around with a gun period. Shame on his parents.

whats done is done. Nothing u all say will change what has happened. Blaming everyone will not change anything, except this young mans future and his familys future. What we all should do is Pray for this family and each other. God is watching us all. Remember each other in your prayers.

This is such a sad story. This is the third story in the news that I have read where a child has either died or has been at Kentucky Children's Hospital. May God be with this family.

This is a horrable thing God send comfort to this family, All I am saying is that something had to inspire the young man to play gun games with his little sister, Childrem emulate what they see fantacy became reality, Why are our children acting out gun seens ? It could have been a silly expreshion of humor Loaded guns are not toys bullets dont think, Guns Or Bullets dont say to each other ( hey Mr Gun why dont you let me loan my self in you and us go shoot a human being whats next remove all shape objects from the kitchen? and all around the house take pincels from school kids? This is a failour of education and a over stemulation of violence in our culture.
