Lexington police are searching for the person who held up a bank on Tuesday morning.

Police received word of the robbery at about 9:20 at the Whitaker Bank on Paris Pike at Rogers Road.

Police say the man stood in line and when it was his turn, he demanded money from the teller, implying he had a weapon.

The robber is described as a black man in his mid-thirties, standing about 6 feet tall. At the time of the robbery, he was wearing a black toboggan and sunglasses and a charcoal gray sweatshirt without a hood.

Surveillance photos are helping with a description of the man. He was not covering his face.

He got away in a silver Dodge Stratus, with a purple vanity plate with blue stripes.

He was last seen going inbound on Paris Pike. No one is believed to have been in the car with him.

If you have any information, call Lexington police.

There is a very easy way to stop all these bank robberies..... Arm the tellers with guns and have them complete fire arm training courses and instruct them to shoot first and ask questions later.
