Crooks Stealing From Blind

A group of vending machine crooks is stealing more than just candy bars. They're taking thousands in quaters and pennies.

Officials with Franklin Vending say dozens of their machines in the Rowan and Carter Counties have been broken into and destroyed by vandals, who are not after snacks, but rather cash.

In one weekend, the renegades got away with $1,500 in change. The owners of Franklin Vending says it has to stop. Not just because it's hurting business, but because the proceeds should be going to a good cause, not thieves.

All of the proceeds go to the Department For The Blind. Kentucky State Police are investigating this case, but have few leads. So now, the owner of Franklin Vending is offering a $1,000 reward to anyone who can give tips to the KSP that leads to an arrest in this case.

If you have any information about these thefts call the KSP in Morehead, at (606)784-4127.
