Many relied on him to get them tickets to cheer on the wildcats in Rupp Arena, but police say he took the money and ran.

47-year-old Mattingly stood before a judge, facing 15 counts of theft by deception. The alleged con-man waived his case on to the grand jury in court Thursday.

It took weeks for police to track Mattingly down. He was arrested in Florida where he was working in a hotel.

Police say he scammed people out of thousands of dollars leading them to believe they were buying season basketball tickets. Investigators say Mattingly never delivered the tickets he promised many eager fans.

Some of the victims who stepped forward when he was arrested say Mattingly advertised on the popular website Craig's List and in local newspapers.

A new court date for Mattingly has not been set at this time.

Mattingly still its in jail Thursday on a $75,000 bond.
