Testimony Heard In Child Killing

New disturbing details come out today in the case of a Lexington toddler who was raped and murdered. Her babysitter is facing charges.

Today the man police say is responsible for Katelyn Stinnett's death appeared in court, as police outlined their case against him.

At times it was almost more than 2-year old Katelyn Stinnett's mother and aunt could bear to hear. Lexington detectives outlined, for the first time, what they say happened the day the little girl was attacked by the man who was supposed to be taking care of her.

There were tears in the courtroom as 18-year old Brian Crabtree entered this morning.

The lead detective in the case then took the stand saying Crabtree admitted to throwing Katelyn to the floor from the height of his shoulders, causing her to hit her head.

That's when police say he told them he sexually assaulted and raped the toddler. Sergeant Jesse Harris says he did first deny it all, but later relented.

Sergeant Harris went on to say that Katelyn's three-year old brother was home at the time of the abuse. He says the little boy told detectives, "Brian hit sissy."

Today the judge ordered the case moved to the grand jury.

I heard about this about a yr ago and it made me sick to my stomach. This is why I started the Guardians of the Children here in Northern Virginia to help educate the public about the dangers of child abuse. I also want to help as many children as we can. We as the Guardians of the Children NoVa Chapter will be having a Memorial Ride in her honor on the 19th of june. God Bless her soul for she is in a better place now with our Savior Jesus Christ. My only wish for Crabtree is that they throw him away for life and I hope he gets whats coming to him. My heart goes out to her family for their loss that can never be brought back

As a mother and grandmother I am very concerned. Neither my daughter or grand daughter have ever been left with a sitter. Does anyone know if the case has went to court yet? Or the outcome?

What would you say to an abuser to stop them from hurting a child? Why didn't the family, friends, neighbors pay attention to Katelyn? How many days of terror did she endure because of anger and lack of attention. It's time to talk about the silent epidemic of abuse. Take action and protect every child in your Community. No child should live in fear, in honoring Katelyn, listen, watch, ask, take action and do something. Go talk to a child! Look into their eyes, you can see joy and you can see sadness. Be an advocate for all children. Mom

well i think instead of cable, clothes and education for people in prison we should bring back the chain gangs. prisoners have more than a lot of us who work every day and have to scrape by. this crabtree should be hung, his day will come and when it does he will go straight to hell!!!!

As "SAD" stated, I also read somewhere that the mother had not been around for some time. Why? Is she serving in the military?, does she have a serious illness to keep her away?, does she live in another state?, ....... Don't get me wrong I am NOT saying this was her fault, I'd just like to know why she wasn't in her childrens lives.

well where was the mother, why leave your babies with an 18 year old boy with such a low IQ that he could barley take care of himself. I am praying for the family of this little girl, especially for her brother, Poor kids. Have they said if the boy has been checked to see if anything has been done to him in the past. God love the children. This kind of stuff happens everyday, makes you want to lay on your face and cry because of the evil in the world today.

THE LADYBUG COMMENT IS SO TERRIBLY WRONG WITH ITS NON-INFORMED JUDGEMENT ABOUT KATELYNN'S FAMILY. HER COMMENTS PROVE TO ANYONE WITH AN IQ ABOVE 68 THAT SHE DOES NOT KNOW KATELYNN'S FAMILY AND IS NOT QUALIFIED TO MAKE ANY JUDGEMENT ABOUT THEM, AND THAT SHE DOES NOT HAVE THE CONVENTION OF BELEIVE IN HER STATEMENTS TO PUT HER REAL NAME WITH HER COMMENTS.
