PADUCAH, Ky. (AP) - A recount in the Paducah mayor's race has
confirmed a 48-vote win by incumbent Bill Paxton.
Paxton's challenger, Robert Coleman, had requested a recount
after a recanvassing of votes also confirmed Paxton's win.
Coleman had filed suit over voter irregularites, but he
indicated on Thursday that he may not pursue the action any
further. Coleman says he doesn't think a trial would accomplish
Coleman, a city commissioner for 31 years in Paducah, says the
race for mayor may be his last political campaign.
Paxton received 5,079 votes to Coleman's 5,031 votes.
