State Bracing For A Wintry Blast

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (AP) - The National Weather Service has issued a winter storm warning for much of Kentucky. The warning is in effect for central and western kentucky. A winter storm watch remains in effect for much of the northern and eastern part of the state.

Forecasters say an Arctic cold front has moved into the region, bringing the chance of freezing rain, sleet and snow mix to much of the Bluegrass area.

Forecasters say rain is expected to change over to freezing rain and possibly snow by the afternoon, with a chance of significant accumulations. The weather service says one to four inches of ice and snow is possible.

The warnings and watches are effect through Tuesday morning across central Kentucky. Forecasters say a mix of rain, freezing rain, sleet, ice and snow will develop Monday afternoon, with the precipitation likely continuing into Monday night through Tuesday morning.
