Suspect Killed, Resident Injured During Home Invasion

A home invasion took a deadly turn in Lexington late Wednesday night.

One of the suspects died after breaking into an apartment at Shillito Park Apartments on Beaver Place Road near Man o'War Boulevard.

Police say two suspects invaded an apartment on the second floor and exchanged gunfire with the resident.

The coroner has identified the man who died as 27-year-old Anthony Bell. The coroner says he died from a gunshot wound to the chest.

The resident was also shot and went to U.K. Hospital.

Police say his injuries aren't life threatening.

Police are still searching for the other suspect.

He's described as a white man standing 6'3" and was wearing a dark gray hoodie.

To Guns don't kill people, People do. Clinton signed the bill that made of lose all of our jobs to other countries NOT Bush, maybe if people were more educated the correct people would be getting the blame.

Congrats to the homeowner and hope he isnt hurt to bad. Do that more often and these punks will think twice about breaking in to another home. Hope I am home if they ever try mine.

Yes, you are correct... It does say HOME INVASION, and yes people do invade homes on the 2nd - 22nd floor! But there is still something very suspicious concerning this story to me. And every citizen has their own right to have guns. Keep the stupid comments to your self!

Hay, it says a home invasion, yes Sally, people break in on the 2nd floor or the 22nd floor. If all law abiding people had guns the crooks would not be so much in a hurry to break in on them.

Last I checked this country still had the second Amendment - Right to bear Arms. If you take away civilian guns then you take away civilian rights. If you don't agree, read a text book on the Revolutionary and Civil War... Civilians won both those wars with their personal rifles. If you are so eager to take away peoples guns then why are you not taking away automobiles, because last I checked DUI drivers kill people just as easy. Seriously lets be realistic here, when a crime is committed don't go get your ropes and lanters, let the public officials handle it (That's why we pay taxes, for their duty). I agree with PEGGY 100%.

dear peggy, let the criminal justice take its toll? uh, we see where that's gotten this country. hence people owning firearms. the court of law doesn't protect people from these criminals. so, the people have to protect themselves. dear 'guns don't kill...' - are you really justifying thievery because this country has fallen on hard times. hmmm, i'm a single mom and often struggle financially, but you don't see my name in the paper for shoplifting, breaking and entering or robbery. that's a lame excuse used by criminals in order to get a 'pity deal' from the court. horse poop.

Something isn't adding up with this story. Sounds like to me the apartment manager needs to start cleaning house. I hope I'm wrong and that the resident was "protecting himself" but I don't think that is what really happened.

Kristi: Are you a police officer? No!, then you have no right at all even saying one iota of a thing negative about the police. Try doing our job and then you can talk your smack.

I glad to see someone has stood up to these thugs these home invasions has being going on for the last year. Every time I pick up the paper or listen to the news there's at least 2 per week. Rember police can't be every where. For thought TAKE YOUR CHANCES BEFORE THE 12 Juiors Not the 6 Paulbearers.

this story is very suspicious. I think they are more to this. Very few people break into an apartment when someone is home.
