Police: 4 Men Dead In Crash As Car Flees

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (AP) - Louisville police say four men are dead
after the car in which they were riding crashed into a tree while
fleeing police.

Alicia Smiley, spokeswoman for Louisville Metro Police, says the
incident occurred about 8 p.m. in downtown Louisville.

Smiley says police pulled over a Honda Accord that was suspected
to have been stolen, but when two officers walked toward the
vehicle, it sped off.

Smiley says the driver then lost control and the car crashed
into a tree.

She says three men in the car were pronounced dead at the scene
and one man was pronounced dead at University Hospital. The fifth
occupant of the car, also a male, was also taken to University
Hospital, but Smiley says his condition is unknown.

She says the victims' identifications have not been released
pending notification of their families.

Smiley says the officers have been placed on administrative
while the incident is investigated.

This is a perfect example of why this police chasing should end and should have never been allowed to start. Why were they chasing them--public intoxication, bank robbery or what? This incident could hace killed a lot of innocent folks as well so is it better to catch a non-violent criminal or to potentially cause multiple deaths??

I KNOW THIS DOESNT MAKE THINGS BETTER, BUT EXPECT THIS IF YOUR GOING TO RUN FROM THE POLICE.. DONT COMMIT THE CRIMES!! LET ME GUESS THERE ARE GOING TO BE PEOPLE TO QUICKLY START ACCUSING THE POLICE FOR THIS AS IF IT THERE FAULT THEY DIED. GRANT IT POLICE MAY OF CHASED THEM, BUT THEY DID NOT MAKE THEM STEAL THE CAR OR RUN HOPING TO NOT GET CAUGHT. THESE ARE ACTIONS TAKEN BY THE DRIVER, AND ALL ON BOARD CHOSE TO DO SO. IF POLICE DIDNT CHASE THE CRIMINALS THEN THERE WOULD BE MORE CRIMES AND CRIMINALS EXPECTING TO NOT GET CHASED AND THE CRIME BE SUCCESSFUL. WE AS CITIZENS DONT NEED THAT.. I HATE THAT THIS HAPPENED, I REALLY DO.. BUT THIS IS THE END RESULTS OF GREED FROM THE SUSPECTS.. THE OFFICERS DID ALL THEY COULD DO AND THIS HAPPENED. THINK REAL HARD BEFORE YOU GET ON HERE TO RIDICULE THE OFFICERS AND THERE PERFORMANCE IN THERE DUTIES. THEY HAVE A TOUGH JOB AND, AT THE LAST SECOND DECISION MAKING JOB. OH,AND TO MENTION NO PAY TO GO WITH IT...PRAYERS ARE WITH ALL INVOLVED...GOOD LUCK...
