An armed man who attempted to rob an Irvine grocery store was reportedly shot and killed by the armed security guard at the store.

Sources tell 27 NEWSFIRST the man entered the store sometime after seven o'clock Sunday evening. It's not yet clear if he was involved in any sort of altercation with store employees prior to the shooting.

Irvine police are investigating but at this point, it appears that no one else was injured in the incident.

A nearby market was robbed at gunpoint Saturday night but it's not yet known if the two cases are connected.
