Student Recants Sexual Assault Story

Prosecutors will decide if charges should be filed against a woman who admits to reporting a crime that didn't happen.

An Eastern Kentucky University student claimed she was sexually assaulted Tuesday night on campus, but then admitted to making it all up.

The woman originally claimed while walking near the Meditation Chapel in the middle of campus when she was approached by two men who she said attacked her and tried to steal her purse.

That triggered school officials to issue an alert, but late Wednesday afternoon, the student told police she made it all up.

Campus officials are now looking into why the woman made the claim.

Officials at Eastern Kentucky University turned over their investigation to the prosecutor's office on Thursday morning.

If someone is suggesting that EKU would rather students be in danger, than a blemish on their campus. Then THAT needs to be investigated, Maybe the whole case needs further investigation.

Questioned or interogated by CAMPUS police? Wasn't she the victim? Why wasn't this investigated the Right way? Either way she did not get the treatment she needed.

Elwood,She did not admit to making it all up.The police harrassed her to the point to were she gave them permission to say that she had recanted her story.did you not read some of the other comments. The reason she is scared is because she filed a report and no one believed her.The police harrased her so bad that she told them to do whatever just to get out of there. So not only is she scared to stay on a campus where she is afraid of being attacked. She knows that the police wouldn't protect her either.

Anonymous, if she made it up, which she admitted, why is she so scared to go back to school? Maybe she's "scared" everybody will make fun of her?

Don't you think she has been through enough? Put yourself in her place, she had to say it was made up because the police tormented her so badly. She now has to continue her education elsewhere because she is so scared. Shame on you people for not wanting to tarnish your school. You better hope there is not another attack.

Did anyone consider that this girl may have been forced into recanting her story? I heard that's what happened and was treated very poorly by police. So please ladies be careful out there.
