Two children are dead after an early morning house fire in Middlesboro.

When the fire broke out early Friday morning, the father was able to get out first.

Then a neighbor was able to pull the mother out through a window, but despite frantic efforts, they were not able to get the two young boys out of the house alive.

Officials say 12 year old Ethan Barton and his 6 year old brother Aaron Barton were not able to make it out of the house alive.

The smoke was too much for their mother and father to get to them.

Now the family is left mourning the loss of what they describe as two wonderful boys.

“They were just wonderful kids and today we just ask the public to remember the family through prayers,” Jack Standifer said.

Officials say they have no reason to suspect arson, but because the nature of the fire, Kentucky state police and the state fire marshal are investigating the fire.

A fund is set up for the family at Community Trust Bank in Middlesboro.
