Three Flu Cases Reported in Fayette County

For the second time in two days, on Friday, health officials reported some new flu cases in Lexington.

These two new patients bring the statewide total to four.

The first popped up in Adair County earlier this month. The other three are here in Fayette County.

Flu season typically doesn't peak until February, so doctors say you should still get the flu shot if you haven't done so.

Influenza kills 36,000 people every year. 90% percent of the deaths occur in elderly patients.

They act like those are the only cases of the flu in the area. How many people have the flu but never go to the doc because either they can't afford it or just figure it is a cold?

One of the 4 of mine has tested positive today. 2 of the others have the same symptoms and the other is at her dads. They got their meds today so hopefully it will be short lived. PLEASE UNDERSTAND, if you catch it as soon as it starts there is TAMAFLU to give and shorten the flu. They have to have it in the first 48 hrs in order for it to work!

my sister has the flu and she told me that her DR told her that the flu shot protect one strand of the flu but not the one that is going around. So would getting the flu shot really help?
