Drug Treatment Facility Receives Grant

Six women battling drug addiction will get treatment through a grant from Equitable Resources.

Company officials presented a $20,000 check to the director of “Hope In The Mountains,” a Prestonsburg treatment facility that houses nine women at a time.

The money will help women who do not qualify for unite vouchers.

“It's invaluable, I mean it's a community company, they've been around a long time, and it's not just the money; it's you know, the fact that our people are supporting our people. That means everything to us,” Renee McCoy, Executive Director.

Equitable Resources also presented $25,000 to the Mountain Arts Center to support arts education programs.

You don't need a treatment facility or a 12 step program to get off drugs and alcohol! There is a cure for drug addiction and alcoholism, its called Stop putting them in your body!!! Grow up people and save your money!

I think that every local company could benefit by donating to the treatment of drug addiction. This is a great investment in the future of thier companies. If we have clean and sober parents for employment then we are going to have happier, healthier children and families. I feel like so many people complain about the drug epidemic in this area but they fail to get involved in any ways to improve it. I am a drug court graduate and can truly say that the program saved my life. They introduced me to a 12 step program that I am still involved in and that is what keeps me clean today. As far as the previous comment if you check into treatment facilities in this area you would find that mens facilities way out number womens and each facility is resonsible for applying for grants of this caliber.
