WYMT Inauguration Coverage From 1989

It's been 20 years since WYMT extensively covered the 1989 inauguration of President George H.W. Bush.

WYMT's Tony Turner and Neil Middleton made the trip to Washington D.C. The Hazard Band of Gold, Harlan Boys Choir and Corbin Marching Band were among the groups representing eastern Kentucky at the event.

Of all the Bush circus acts(and there were many) I especially liked the shoe throwing incident-----that was just to funny.

I throughly enjoyed the fact that you covered the Kentucky representatives to the 1989 Inaugural for Harlan/Hazard, but would really appreciate some coverage of the Corbin High School Band that performed in the Inaugural parade. It was a tremendous event for the 84 band members and the chapeones that accompanied them. It was a tremendous feat to raise enough funds in a short amount of time to attend. They were also hosted by Hal Rogers to a private tour of the Nations Capitol. If you have any footage from their particpation we would greatly appreciate it being covered as well. Thanks so much!

In reviewing the news today 1/21/09 it appears Obama has gotten more done today than Georgie Boy did in a year.

Terri, you are so right, it's a new day in the USA.

No Terri, that wasn't a wonderful day showing disrespect for the man. Regardless of whether you like him or not, the office he held deserves respect and the chanting was nothing but childish antics. Granted, he was not our best president, but showing respect for the office and not acting like sore "winners" would have been the adult way to act.

Obama is Kentucky's only bright spot and hope unless you truly believe Mitch and Bunning is in your interest.

I thought yesterday was so special in the way the worst president ever(22% approval)was leaving while the HIGHEST approval president was taking office.
