Students Host Inaugural Ball

Now all the official business is over, it is party time in Washington and for some students in central Kentucky.

As part of a class project, fourth graders at Mary Queen of the Holy Rosary are hosting their own Inaugural Ball in Lexington tonight. The ball is being held at the Lexington Green Hilton.

The students have been studying government all year and this is their payoff for all the hard work. As part of the evening, students will be playing roles of the president, vice president and other major players in the Inauguration.

Parents are also attending tonight and the ball is being held for a charity. All proceeds will go to benefit the Lexington Humane Society.

As principal of Mary Queen of the Holy Rosary, I am very proud of the 4th grade students, teachers and parents for hosting this wonderful Learning Ball event. We had a second performance today for the entire school and it was evident teaching for learning is happening at Mary Queen. God Bless, Jane Gettler, Mary Queen Principal

thanks for sharing what our community is doing in regard to inaugural events! Although I don't have children I was touched by the enthusiasm and efforts by this class. It was also great to learn that others such as the catering company donated and to a local cause - the humane society. Sherelle, you do a wonderful job. (this is the first time I have ever submitted any comments via internet about anything!)
