Volunteer Coach Pleads Guilty

A volunteer coach police say punched a referee to the ground, pleaded guilty Wednesday.

Police say John Green assaulted referee Jeff Ely during an October middle school football game between Bell County and Corbin.

He was volunteer coaching for Bell County.

A special judge sentenced the 36-year-old to two years probation.

Green must complete an anger management program and stay away from the sidelines.

    People it is just a game if you have a problem with a referee then they are proper channels you can go through. I know this for a fact that it works by going through proper channels. We had a problem with a referee and he no longer does our games.
