HUNTINGTON, W.Va. (AP) - A manufacturer of customized rubber and plastic products has laid off 16 workers, citing the industrywide downturn as a result of the economy.
Rubberlite announced the layoffs Tuesday. Company chief J. Allen Mayo says the firm waited as long as possible before making the decision to cut the jobs.
Before the layoffs, about 150 people worked at the Huntington plant, making a range of products for industrial, automotive, bedding, apparel and other markets.
Mayo says companies throughout the industry have been cutting jobs in the face of the worst recession in decades.>
