On Court Day, Accused Husband Killer Stays At Florida Vacation Home

The family of a man gunned down in his own home want to know why the accused killer is now spending time at her Florida vacation home instead of appearing in court today.

The end of January can be the perfect time to plan a vacation... but the family of Carl Bartley, a man shot and killed in 2007, take exception when a woman they say is currently on vacation is the same woman indicted for Bartley's murder.

The commonwealth's attorney, Keen Johnson, says as far as he knows Bartley is in Florida but that's not the answer Sandy Ballard and the rest of the victim's family wanted to hear.

Pam Bartley, the woman indicted for murder, is out on a 100 thousand dollar cash bond. Johnson says a few months ago the vacation home in Florida, she shared with her husband Carl Bartley, was damaged by a storm and she had permission from a judge to travel there and fix it but the attorney doesn't know why she's still there.

A question Ballard was expecting the attorney to ask in court today but the issue of where Bartley is was never brought up. Instead they scheduled a trial date.

off camera, the commonwealth attorney told me Bartley has until February first to return to the commonwealth, saying he'll be looking for a warrant for her arrest if she's not back on time.

Bartley's trial is set for the middle of July.

I love how everyone seems to be referring to Bubby and Sandy as Carl's family. Has everyone forgotten that Carl had two children and grandchildren. If Carl's so called family, as the media keeps referring to them, had been listed in the will you wouldn't be hearing a word from them. Pam has done nothing wrong. She stayed with this man through all the other women and all the legal issues. Once again the Bartley family would like you to think Carl was a Saint. He had just finished serving time on a drug conviction three months before he was killed. Pam had been in Florida less than 2 days when this was covered on the news and his so called family knew that. They would love everyone to think she is vacationing and partying which is completely false. Since his death her life has been anything but a party. The court date being constantly pushed back should show the people that she's innocent. They have nothing on her. She wasn't the one who failed the lie detector test. Read the papers.

I can not understand why? When you have been indicted for murder, how can and why would a judge give you permission to go to Florida? How ignorant! Ive seen people who are on probation for small crimes not even be allowed to leave the state. This judge is sending the wrong message to people. Is it this easy to kill someone and buy yourself time? This is so confusing. I even heard the states attorney say "his hands were tied". He should have to explain what he means by that to the family of Carl's. I hate to say this, but I believe she will get away with this, if someone higher up can't be in charge of this trial. There is definatly something wrong here. If there was enough evidence to indict her then there should be enough evidence to convince a jury of murder. If they would get this show on the road, I believe justice will be served.

she has Not been convicted of murder, and as to vacationing there,if there is damage to the home cleaning up is not taking a vacation.seems that the judge knows where she is and has not broke the law if she has permission to be there. It seems the media only has the Bartley familys views when it comes to this case,I thought in this country you were Innocent until Proven guilty,However it seems that the media has tried and convicted this lady on the views from his family and not from any evidence.doesnt seem that any of the media coverage has been fair or balanced.

Why was a warrant not sent out today to bring her back? This lady should have never been out on bond in the first place - she committed murder!!
