Governor Tours Winter Storm Damage

On Tuesday, Governor Beshear declared a state of emergency in Kentucky because of the ice and snow that's caused a variety of problems.

Wednesday, the governor traveled across the state, taking a first-hand look at the damage.

Declaring a state of emergency, allows the government to tap into more resources to help clear the roads and keep people safe.

The governor said in that news conference in Lexington on Wednesday afternoon that he has been in contact with federal officials in Washington, working to get much needed assistance.

The governor asked people to have patience with utility workers who are working around the clock, he also stressed that it could be next week before all of the power is restored to folks around the bluegrass.

The governor asked for an emergency presidential declaration of disaster which would provide additional resources like generators, communications equipment, and extra personnel to help with debris removal.

The governor made it clear that even though the state is in a budget crunch, he will do whatever it takes to help folks in the bluegrass.

A lot of good for this Governor to visit this mess, he would have never found Lexington if someone had not drove him here. And what he said , made as much sense as mud!

Fred, why don't you whine a little more instead of just being thankful that you apparently still have electricity and internet access?

Wonder if he'll be flying and taking his 50 person entourage? Maybe we can use our tax money for that!
