William Meece took the stand in his own defense Thursday in Bowling Green.
After 15 days of testimony, Meece took the stand, saying he did not kill Joseph Wellnitz, his wife, Beth and son, Dennis, 13 years ago.
Meece says he'd been at the Wellnitz home the night before the murders and two times after the murders helping Meg Appleton move out of the home. Appleton is the Wellnitz's daughter. She has since pleaded guilty to complicity in the murders, and is spending life in prison.
Meece went on to testify that he was a nerdy kid who was picked on a lot. He admits that he used to make up stories and tell people he was involved with the CIA. He also testified that he once confessed to killing the Wellnitz family, but now says he made the whole thing up, and is an innocent man.
The case is expected to go to the jury Friday.
