He survived just long enough to crawl for help, but Darrin Maddox died before that help arrived. That was nearly two years ago.
Now his parents are speaking, as the trial against his accused killer begins Monday.

34-year old Darrin Maddox was doing his job when police say he was shot and killed at a tobacco warehouse in Harrodsburg.
Police arrested a man that night for the crime, James Crews. He goes on trial for murder Monday.

Police say after Maddox was shot, he was able to make it to a house across the street from the warehouse to get help. A family called 911 but Maddox died shortly after.

Maddox was very close to his family. He loved farming and collecting John Deer tractors. His family says there isn't a day that goes by that they don't think about him.

James Crews has been in jail in Danville since the murder in January 2005. If convicted he could face 20 years to life in prison.
