Gas Prices On The Rise

We haven't seen them rise in quite some time, but the price you see at the pump has gone up.

Of course, it's not nearly as bad as it was this summer when you couldn't drive by a gas station without seeing prices well into two and three dollars.

AAA reports the average price here in Lexington on Thursday is a $1.89, up two cents since Wednesday.

The price one year ago sat at $2.90.

There's no word on just how high prices are expected to climb.

I have just a few comments for this. Oil is now selling for about $38 a barrel. This past fall, oil was in the $40 and gas was selling for about 1.40, maybe a few pennies higher. Oil tankers were sitting in the water, couldn't unload it because there was so much of it. Hence, price of gas goes down. Now what we have is the same with oil. Tankers are sitting in the water, full of oil with no place to unload. Oil companies are paying extra lease options to keep the oil there. Now, the real reason for this is the oil refineries have cut production of gas to drive the cost up!!!! Utilization was about 96% and last week they had dropped refining utilization down to 87%, to drive the cost up. It will get worse when they shut down even more % of utilization when they swith from winter to spring/summer driving fuel. Yes, blame the OIL companies!!! And let's not forget, Mr. BUSH was the main cog in all this!!! I'm so thankful he and his sidekicks are gone!!!!

High gas prices was one of the root causes of our economic condition, but at least over the last four years,we had high oil prices along with high gas prices. Now with oil cheap and gas prices high, this must be part of Obama's economic recovery plan he discussed with Joe the Plumber, "spread the wealth around", in other words, take from the poor and spread among the wealthy.

Even though the price of oil has feel dramatically and gas prices still rice has a lot to do with the fact we have not built a refinery since the 70’s, and no you cant blame that on Bush, the liberals of America and all the red tape by the EPA has made it not worthy of building one as of the billions it would cost. As long as they keep it that way no one will build another refinery. Currently USA has little reserve on hand, as soon as we refine it we consume it, therefore demand stays high, if they could refine it faster then we used it the price would fall extremely low. Thank the left wing extremist liberals for this, Bush tried to drill, o no it would destroy to caribou population they say so there you have it.

Some cry about what they know not.Bush handed out leases to the oil companies right and left, but, they didn`t use them they just held onto them wanting more, more. Now some of you people that cried about Bush not giving to the oil companies are crying about Obama over the same thing.IT`S THE OIL COMPANIES, FOLKS CHECK IT OUT!

JUSTIN, Man you are right on the money with your ideas and the problems with gas prices--- NO- GOVERNMENT. If our weak leaders don't do anything about the gas prices , then there is nothing anyone can do.
