Police on Lookout for Horse Thieves

Video will be available shortly

A Crime Alert Tuesday in Central Kentucky.

Police are on the lookout for horse thieves after a Thoroughbred was brazenly taken from a Lexington horse farm.

The horse was taken from a farm on a busy stretch of Interstate 75, near Athens Boonesborough Road.

Investigators believe the horse was taken in the wee hours of last Friday morning, some very brazen thieves pulled a van off I-75, came down an embankment to the pasture fence, cut a hole in it, and stole Lisa Gilmour's horse.

The thieves though might not have been all that bright. The horse they stole was a 26 year old thoroughbred no longer able to be ridden.

Gilmour says the horse was nothing but a pet, living out his days.

Gilmour says her biggest fear now is that the old thoroughbred she called Starman will be taken to the slaughterhouse.
