Economic Summit Held In Prestonsburg

Hundreds of business leaders gathered in Floyd County to discuss what they can do to help eastern Kentucky's economy.

It was part of the Big Sandy Economic Development Summit held at the Mountain Arts Center.

Leaders discussed how they can work together to develop new jobs, and use our region's resources like coal and gas, adventure tourism, as well as the arts to attract more dollars to the area.

“It's hard for one business or one person to get something going, but if you get a couple of hundred business leaders working together with our lawmakers, both local and state level, then that's a powerful force, and that's what we're trying to accomplish,” Mark Wiete, Citizen’s National Bank said.

Lt. Governor Daniel Mongiardo was the guest speaker.

Why not build a NASCAR track? Or some casinos?
