A double shooting leaves two men fighting for their lives, but police say they are lucky that no one else was hurt or killed.
The Bullitt County Sheriff says 38-year-old John Burbank was planning to kill his family.
Investigators say Burbank shot his neighbor, who went across the street to Burbank's parent's house, trying to alert them.
The noise woke up Burbank's mother and step-father, who police say ended up shooting Burbank in the head.
Both men were taken to University of Louisville Hospital where the neighbor who was shot four times was listed in critical condition. Burbank underwent surgery on Thursday, but there's no word on his condition.
