Another Rabies Case Confirmed

There's been another case of rabies in central Kentucky, this time in Woodford County.

A homeowner near the town of Nonesuch shot and killed a skunk this week.

The homeowner noticed that the skunk was acting very strange and suspected the animal might be infected. The animal showed all of the classic signs of rabies, such as being very uncoordinated and drooling excessively.

The homeowner did not want to kill the animal at first, but decided to err on the side of caution.

So far this year, health officials have confirmed a total of 11 positive infections across the state, one of which was a horse in Lexington.
