Hardin County Teen Dies In Woodford Crash

VERSAILLES, KY -- A Hardin County, Ky. teenager was killed early today in a single vehicle crash on the Bluegrass Parkway in Woodford County.

The Fayette County Coroner's Office has identified the victim as 19-year old John Kirksey III of Radcliff. The coroner's report states the cause of death as "multiple blunt force trauma."

A Versailles Police Department news release states, "at 4:30 a.m. (Saturday) officers responded to a report of a crash on the parkway. The news release says, "It appeared the vehicle (no description provided) left the roadway, (veered back) onto the roadway (and then) struck a guardrail.

According to the Coroner's report, the accident occurred in the eastbound lane of the Parkway near the 71 mile marker.

Police say the victim was flown from the scene of the accident to the University of Kentucky Hospital. Police say the "subject sustained fatal injuries from the accident."

The Versailles Police Department news release did not give any indication as to possible causes of the accident or whether speed and/or alcohol or drug use may have been involved.

    (25) John was a model child; needless to say, very respectable to his elders. He will be sorely missed by all that knew him...he was destined for success. RIP

    Words cannot express the sorrow we feel in our hearts. My daughter attended class with John and has expressed how delighted it was knowing him. Our prayer are with John's family. May the Lord give you comfort during these times.

    Our sympathy goes out to the Kirksey family. John was member of North Hardin's football and track teams. All who knew him loved him, he was a very special young man. The community has truly loss a gem of a young man. God Bless, I will miss you John thanks for all the hard work you did you me. Love you
