Troubling Trend, Shoplifters Stealing Food

Kroger is reporting the economy is hitting the food retailer in unexpected ways, saying people are resorting to stealing food.

At Kroger stores alone, shoplifting arresting are up 15% from last year.

Lexington Police say shoplifting happens everyday, but now they're seeing an increase in people stealing food from grocery stores.

They say it could affect your bottom line.

The shoppers that spoke with 27NEWSFIRST say it's happening because people are desperate and say it's so bad they can even understand why people would risk stealing groceries.

Lexington Police arrested two people on Monday for shoplifting a combined $150 from the Hamburg Meijer.

Police say they used the self-checkout but didn't scan or pay for their items.

Now police want to use them as an example saying there are alternatives to stealing like using the local food bank.

Children, if someone is Hungry, I know, if they ask, they will recieve! Surely, (WE, fellow Humans)would feed someone a meal! Stealing food makes the Economany look even bleaker! ASK FIRST, I KNOW YOU WILL GET FOOD, DONT STEAL, ASK!

When you see all those pretty lawns plowed up and gardens growing to feed yourself, shoplifting for food might stop.

AC, upon further reflection on your 'Lard or Lord' affectation for Obama. I have come to realize that to folks like you 'The Lord Obama' is who you worship but, to those of us not willing to submit he is just 'The Lard Obama' referring to his penchant for pork.

"Posted by: AC Location: Corbin on Feb 27, 2009 at 01:53 PM And another thing, Zatoichi, your so-called "big words" aren't really that impressive. Maybe you're the one that needs a dictionary ... it's "Lord" not "Lard." " ==== No, I don't think he meant Lord at all, I think he meant Lard - as in PORK. I've read many of his posts, and that's my guess anyway. ------ And William, let's not forget the 8th commandment: THOU SHALT NOT STEAL - it doesn't say, "unless you are hungry". If you or your children are hungry, that is your decision if you want to steal food. That doesn't make it okay or not a sin, that's between you & God. However, God knows our heart, and what we need, and if we put Him first, He will provide for us. I know this for a fact personally. And yes, we are supposed to help and feed the poor, or anyone who is hungry, BUT, they should first try to help themselves. There are foodstamps available for those who need them (and even for some who don't).

Zatiochi, you've gone beyond being annoying. You've become insufferable. What does Obama have to do with this? Bush the Warmonger ran the country into the ground over the course of 8 years with anti-conservative antics like big government and big spending. Obama took office less than 2 mos. ago.
