NKU Plans Tuition Increase

HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. (AP) - Northern Kentucky University is
planning a 4 percent tuition increase next fall for undergraduate
Kentucky residents.

The Kentucky Enquirer says such an increase would add $132 a
semester - or $11 a credit hour - for the average full-time
student. That would set tuition at $3,396 a semester.

The university hopes to increase its metro rate by $132 for Ohio
residents in nearby counties, raising the amount to $5,628 a

Kentucky officials put caps on next year's tuition increases.
NKU's Board of Regents and the Kentucky Council on Postsecondary
Education have to approve any NKU tuition increase.

NKU President Jim Votruba says there's political pressure to
keep tuition increases low. NKU will increase financial aid budgets
to offset tuition increases.
