Lawsuit Filed Against Childers Oil Company

A Letcher County resident files a civil complaint against Childers Oil Company.

The complaint was filed in Letcher Circuit Court and it calls for a jury trial.

This comes just more than one week after petroleum contamination forced officials to issue a non-consumption order for several communities.

Crews are flushing the distribution system, trying to get the petroleum out of water lines that serve homes and businesses, but it could be another day or two before the restrictions are lifted.

I don't see why they would even want to stay in Letcher CO- it seems that most of the hick people who live there have turned their backs on them. They should move counties and show all of the idiots in that area what them moving or shutting down would really do to the community- you think the water is bad now- what if the 300 people who work for them in Letcher Co didn't have a job to go to...they wouldn't have to worry about water- they couldn't afford it- This family does so many good things for letcher and surrounding counties and the families who live in them, that it makes me want to cry to see everyone acting like this. Guys there is more things to do than sit back and suck off the government and look for some quick lawsuit money- get a hobby- or go to Mr Childers for a job. His companies pay THE HIGHEST dollar amount for entry level positions. They beat all companies starting pay in this area!I think I'll go buy me a pizza roll right now!!!! We are still with you Missy and Don!

I haven't stoped using my water for bathing or washing. I never cooked or drank the water because it smells like bleach every time I turned on the tap. The only problem I have is with the water company because I keep recieving letters that they failed another test yet again. There have been problems with the water way before any "incidents" took place. When you have people tell you they see the sewer pumps back up and flow into the river and they call the city and the city does nothing that sounds wrong to me. There is more going on than the public trully knows.

To ?????, yes accidents do happen, but usually the responsible stands up and expresses regret, and apologizes for the inconvenience it has created. Also, how often do "accidents" to this extent happen so regularly?

A lawsuit? He gets a slap on the wrist and let go? No, this man needs to pay just like the man in Johnson County. He put many children and adults in a very dangerous situation just to make a buck. Mr. Childres needs to serve his time and also pay.
