First it was the stomach virus now it seems more and more are coming in with flu symptoms.

It's the same story year after year.... doctors offices getting flooded with the usual symptoms. Fever, fatigue, body aches, coughs and sore throats.

"We're seeing more flu cases not what we saw last year," says Dr. Fida Bacha.

Not at least in terms of reported numbers to the health department. In Fayette county 12 confirmed cases this year compared to 47 at this time last year. but Dr. Bacha says the numbers don't tell the whole story.

"We don't confirm every flu case that comes into the office."

Saying that would be costly and time consuming.

"We usually try to confirm the first few cases until we know the flu is here and what strain it is."

It's not just the influenza virus that's bringing people in the door. the Dr. says a stomach virus sometimes called the stomach flu has been going around as well.

While the flu is still filtering in... Dr. Bacha is hopefully optimistic when looking at the big picture of the season but cautions there is still a long way to go.
