A missing Floyd County man is found dead in a creek.
State police say 26-year-old Jason Tackett was reported missing Tuesday.
Wednesday morning, his uncle found his body in the water across the street from Tackett's home, off of highway 979 in Teaberry.
State police do not know how he died yet.
They do not suspect foul play, but they are not ruling it out.
Tackett's family says they last saw him alive on Monday and now the family wants to know what happened.
Family members say they just celebrated Jason Tackett's 26th birthday Monday night, but now they are mourning his death.
“I love him. I'm going to miss him with everything in my heart,” Sabrina said.
Tackett's sister says his birthday was the last time she saw him alive.
She says no one could find him on Tuesday, so they reported him missing and State Police started searching.
The search ended Wednesday morning when Tackett's uncle found his body in a creek behind the Teaberry Post Office, just across the street from Tackett's home.
“This is the worst way for a missing person's case to end,” Trooper Mike Goble said.
Now the missing person investigation is a death investigation.
Police do not know how Tackett died yet, and are waiting for the state medical examiner to find the cause of death to determine if foul play is involved.
The family wants to know what happened, and says the waiting is really hard and they are pleading for answers.
Tackett leaves behind a five year old son.
The family says through him, Tackett's memory will live on.
Investigators say it will be a couple of days before the autopsy is complete and they know a cause of death.
Detectives are interviewing several people trying to piece together Tackett's last days.
