Trial Could Be Pushed Back For Indicted County Officials

A trial may be pushed back for several Clay County officials indicted on federal vote buying charges.

Attorneys for Clay County School Superintendent Doug Adams filed a motion to continue the trial to allow more time for evidence discovery.

Prosecutors have no objection, but a judge has yet to rule on the motion.

A judge must also decide on a motion by former Circuit Court Judge Cletus Maricle's attorney to reconsider keeping him behind bars until trial.

Maricle's new attorney says his client's interests were not adequately presented at his earlier detention hearing.
