Cousins Follows Calipari To UK

DeMarcus Cousins will follow Coach John Calipari to the University of Kentucky.

ESPN.com quotes Cousins' high school as saying he decided last night to come to Kentucky.

Cousins had verbally committed to play at Memphis before Calipari left for Kentucky, but he never signed a letter of intent with the Tigers.

Cousins is ranked as the #4 recruit in the nation by ESPNU. He currently plays at Leflore High School in Mobile, Alabama.

well if you have only lived in ky for 14 years then you will never understand what ky basketball means to us fans and why we appreciate coach cal for being here. we know whats good for ky and that is uk basketball coach john calipari and his love for the best all american players. i have worked in construction since high school and i was recently laid off. so i hope things get better for our state, but for now, having the right coach and worring about uk ball this november.. thats what matters most to me.. coach G and tubby werent near the excitement as coach cal! and thats what we uk fans want!

I have lived in Kentucky for about 14 years and wanted to say how ridiculous it is to keep hearing about UK basketball! Lets move on. There is so much more to life than UK B-ball. If Kentuckians would put this kind of effort into their lives, ie.. better schools, better work force, better health, better economy we might one day live in a state that we could be proud of. Again there is so much more to life than b-ball and horses. Get out and live and be productive and get out from behind the tv. I came to this website looking for real news, not more gossip about b-ball. Wake up Kentucky!

MR Basketball, how about John Pelfrey, he was Mr Basketball, he did nothing positive? He is now building a team at Arkansas, an SEC school. No small feat, for the former KY Mr. Basketball wwho played on a team that R. Pitino transformed into a contender, remember "The Shot" when Duke became villians in the eyes of UK fans everywhere? Some great basketball moments came from that team and great basketball minds from Kentucky like Travis Ford, and John Pelphery among others from right here in Kentucky. I am excited to enter a new era of KY basketball, to coach Cal, I would say recruit from KY when you can, but recruit the best, wherever they are from.

Tuna Fried, this is a comment section and everyone is entitled to their opinion. Maybe you should take your own advise and STFU.

Anonymous, Do you recall Ron Mercer? They would've won it in '97 if DAnderson hadn't got ACL'd. Don't remember AEpps?...Eye just love all of these great Kentucky fans with all of this great Basketball KNOWLEDGE! Most fans couldn't tell you the difference between a PG & a 2 Guard! BTW, STFU!!!

I've been saying it for 2 years now. True, our program has suffered and taken some hits, taken some loses. True, everything looks a little upside down and inside out.True, that our program has been burned to nearly nothing over the last TEN years. But............OUT OF THE ASHES...WILL RISE THE PHOENIX! Prepare yourselves, history is about to begin.

Brittany , I am afraid to tell you this, but the only one making you look like an idiot is you yourself. Rick took the same team in 97 that did not win a title and Tubby took the same team and won a title in 98. That is a tired old song you are playing.

coach G will be a great coach again at a school with alot less tradition his hire was a big mistake at ky,everyone says look at what he did at A&M but i say A&M is not THE WILDCATS as for porter he could have been a great player somewhere else not taking anything away from him and he should have shot more i think he can shoot but could not handle the pressure of a point guard for THE WILDCATS I wish them both luck and porter please raise that baby a cat fan.

I think that this is awesome! I was raised on kentucky basketball! I live for it! There are good basketball players here in Kentucky, but not good enough to play for the big blue! Personally I am glad that Porter is leaving he couldn't play worth a flip anyway! And as for Gillispie, he was an okay coach, but not made for UK! He couldn't recruit either, just like Tubby. The only player that he went after on ESPN's top 100 players was Daniel Orton! He was getting ready to make us look like idiots! Therefore, the only reason Tubby won a National Championship was because he had the players that Pitino had recruited before he left for the NBA! I think that the Big blue nation will reign supreme once again! GO CATS!!!
