Lexington Soldier Gone AWOL Surrenders to Military

A Kentucky soldier turned himself in to military officials at Radcliff Tuesday afternoon. More than a year after he fled to Canada to avoid another tour.

Darrell Anderson has been living in the Toronto area. He says he left the country because he no longer supporter the Iraq war.

Anderson said he was traumatized by what he experienced in Iraq and couldn't go back into combat.

Anderson has a verbal agreement with military officials that he will not be court-martialed when he returns to Fort Knox on Tuesday.

He's expected to be dishonorably discharged. Anderson has called a news conference for Tuesday at noon in Radcliff.

We'll have the latest on this story on 27 NEWSFIRST at five.
