KSP Says Man Dies In Crash, Fleeing Police

JUNCTION CITY, Ky. (AP) - Kentucky State Police say a man
fleeing from a city police officer has been killed when his vehicle
crashed.

Troopers said 44-year-old David K. Bugg of Harrodsburg was
trying to outrun Junction City Police Officer David Prather after a
domestic violence call early Sunday.

Troopers said Bugg's sport utility vehicle was on Kentucky Route
2141 and had crossed into Lincoln County when it ran off the road,
through a plank fence, through a creek and into a field.

The Lexington Herald-Leader reported the KSP said Bugg was
declared dead at the scene. An autopsy will be performed.

Junction City is about 35 miles southwest of Lexington.

How sad... although it was the suspect who was killed, it could've just as easily been an innocent family in an oncoming car. It's pathetic that police do these high speed chases. This cowboy mentality serves no one except the officer's ego (who likely feels totally jusitifed). High speed chases like this need to be outlawed and the officers prosecuted.

This makes two in less than a month in Junction City. What does it take for them to realize not to run from the police?
