Officials Look At Site For ATV Training Center

State officials are pushing for adventure tourism to become a cornerstone of the east Kentucky economy.

Congressman Hal Rogers spent Thursday afternoon visiting sites in Knott County where that initiative is already in the works.

Tourists are already coming to Knott County for events like last weekend's trail ride and campout.

Rogers and local officials toured the site and went over plans for a new ATV learning center.

Officials say it will be only the fifth of its kind in the nation, and Rogers says the center combined with proposed trails and an RV park will bring a boost to knott county.

"That brings money restaurants, motels, stores, and groceries and the like, and helps us provide those jobs to keep our young people here," said Rogers.

Officials will break ground on the ATV training center Monday.
