People Close To Accused Murderer Say He's No Killer

They say they've raised him since grade school and now those close to a Pulaski County man accused of murder say he's not a killer.

Rocky Smith is charged in the death of Michael Wesseler of Ohio. Police say Wesseler's burned body was found in a car on the edge of Lake Cumberland on Saturday.

Police say drugs may have been to blame.

"Its a fact that the two knew each other. They were together just prior to the incident happening," Sheriff Todd Wood said.

"I don't think he's guilty. I just don't. I've known Rocky too long and he's good with his kids, good around them." Thomas Stevens said.

Smith pleaded not guilty to the charges and remains in jail on a two-hundred and fifty thousand dollar cash bond.
