For the first time in the history of Kentucky State University, a Caucasian woman is voted Miss KSU.
KSU is called an HBCU, or Historically Black College or University.
Elisabeth Martin is a senior, majoring in English Education with a minor in International Studies, who also just happens to be a history maker as the 80th Miss KSU.
"My biggest hope is that everyone will embrace the diversity around them and get to learn from the people around them and just be who they are, but also learn from the people around them to," Martin said.
Now as the queen, Martin will travel to Atlanta in September to compete in the National Hall of Fame pageant.
It may also be a first when Martin's photo is featured in Ebony and Jet magazines.
