Just after one a.m. Sunday, Kentucky State Police were called to a shooting incident on Copper Creek Road in Mount Vernon.
Officials say 40-year-old Darrell Griffin shot 50-year-old Danny Simpson in the chest after Simpson allegedly armed with a baseball bat, made threats toward Griffin and struck Griffin's car with the bat.
Simpson was flown to UK Medical Center and is listed in critical condition.
No charges have been filed and the evidence will be presented to a Grand Jury after the investigation is complete.
