Highway Is Dedicated in Honor of Former Gov. Paul Patton

PIKEVILLE, Ky. (AP) - Governor Fletcher bypassed partisan
politics today to dedicate a stretch of eastern Kentucky highway.
The 20-mile section of U-S one-19 was named in honor of former
Democratic Governor Paul Patton.
Three years ago Fletcher became Kentucky's first Republican
governor in more than 30 years. He promised to "clean up the mess
in Frankfort," following a sex scandal involving Patton.
The two sat side-by-side during the ceremony. Later, they
stepped up to the microphone to exchange compliments over their
accomplishments. Fletcher said regardless of party affiliation,
there's a special kindredship between those who have served as
governor.
Patton joked that he wanted a bridge but the highway was all
that was left.
