A fire official says three people, including two students, were taken to hospitals after a car hit a school bus in Pulaski County.

Lt. Mike Godbey with the Science Hill Fire Department says the crash occurred Monday afternoon when a bus carrying about 30 children was hit by the car, then hit a tree.

Godbey says a 15-year-old boy, Chris Letner of Eubank, was airlifted to the Kentucky Children's Hospital at the University of Kentucky after telling emergency crews he was having trouble breathing. Letner was released Tuesday morning and is now recovering with his family at home.

Pulaski County Schools Superintendent Tim Eaton says Letner had a possible punctured lung.

Godbey says another student and the driver of the car were taken to Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital. Eaton says their injuries were minor.

Eaton says emergency officials told him a car crossed the center line and struck a rear wheel of the bus, causing the bus to veer off the road and strike a tree.

The bus driver behind the wheel during the accident could return to her route as early as Wednesday afternoon.

If you people think belts should be on buses, you need and education in the design of buses.. No one was hurt on this wreck because of the design.. But if there would have been a fire, it would be impossible for one driver to get all the little kids unbuckeled on time.. It takes 2-3 minutes to do an evacuation.. How long if everyone was buckled? Finally, who is going to inforce the kids to buckle up? Another worry for the driver????

As a student in Pulaski County who uses the bus transportation, I will say that at least my driver is very careful. And what I have seen of the other Pulaski drivers, they are also generally careful drivers. Whoevers fault this accident was, I hope my fellow classmates recover fully!

I was in fact DIRECTLY BEHIND DOROTHY(MY BUS DRIVER). I seen the SIDESWIPE the bus, the bus veered to the right to miss the car, but the car hit the back left wheel, The bus driver took control of the bus and kept us from tipping over so that is why we hit the tree. IT WAS NOT THE SCHOOL BUS DRIVER'S FAULT! So you people blaming the bus driver, STOP IT RIGHT NOW. IT WAS THE CAR'S FAULT! GET THAT THROUGH YOUR HEADS.

Here we go blaming bus drivers for everything. This is the deal. You should put yourself in the bus drivers shoes. A vehicle way to large to be on most roads in this area on a very tight time schedule, hauling a much of noisy, disrepectful, punk kids, who by the way wacth their parents and learn every thing THEY do, just trying do do the job they are paid to do and every one wants to put them down when things happen.. Get a life folks. If you loudmouths can do any better, go take a job driving. I see this crap on these blogs every single time a bus wrecks. most of the time the location of the accident is most likly to blame. This accident was cause by a car hitting the bus. This could have been alot worse. However some of you Cracker Jack drivers want to blame the driver of the bus. You guys are [edited]!!!!!!!!!!!

We all should pray and hope everyone will be ok. Everyone has faults and yes some buses do fly on little roads but we are talking about kids lives if police are going to protect bus drivers they need to protect our childrent first put seat belts in school buses Wheres the protection there?

This is indeed a tragedy but, come on people. This was an ACCIDENT! It could have been caused by careless driving on the car driver's part but, things like this do happen from time to time... Thats why there called accidents. Just hope the best for those who were injured and stop pointing fingers.
