A trial for an Oakwood employee is well underway in Pulaski County Circuit Court.
Deanna Sumpter is accused of hitting patients at the facility and is facing criminal charges.
The trial began around 9am Tuesday morning.
Jury members are now hearing the details of the case.
Sumpter has pleaded not guilty.
The abuse case was investigated by the attorney general's office.
Oakwood is the state's largest facility for the mentally ill.
