A mother speaks out for the first time since her son was murdered in front of his Lexington home.

Police say 26-year old Jeremy Walters died after he was shot late last month on Raleigh Road. Police arrested 26-year old Desmond Coates for the crime.

Debbie Drake says she can't understand why someone would want to murder her son. She says Jeremy didn't know the man police arrested and she doesn't know why he would hurt her son.

Drake says she is having trouble making it day to day, but credits her faith in God for getting her through.

Jeremy left behind a wife, a four year old daughter, Lauren and a baby on the way. His mother worries for her grandchildren who have lost her father over something she can't make sense of.

Desmond Coates is charged with Walters' murder. He is in jail in Lexington.
