Health experts say eastern Kentucky is one of the worst spots in the country for Black Lung Disease.

Donnie Creech is a coal miner he is no stranger to what can happen.

He lost his uncle to the Darby explosion in May and now something else is slowly taking his father's life.

"My father has stage 2 black lung," Creech said.

So Donnie is taking advantage black lung testing, which would normally cost around 300 dollars anywhere else.

But health advisors with the National Institute For Occupational Safety and Health Mobile Unit are testing for free in Harlan and Leslie Counties and they are hoping for early detection.

Because donnie says there's risks, but there's nothing else he rather do than be in the mines.

There's more testing across from the Sav-A-Lot in Evarts from 7am to 7pm and at several other locations throughout Harlan and Leslie Counties in the next two weeks.
