An Eastern Kentucky man may soon be the new chairman of the Republican National Committee.
President Bush appointed Inez banker Robert "Mike" Duncan to the position. Duncan is now awaiting approval from the R.N.C. If approved, Duncan will run the day to day operations and Senator Mel Martinez will serve as the face of the organization.
Senator Mitch McConnell says Duncan's appointment is great for Kentucky and the Republican Party.
"He will be helpful, I'm confidant, in helping us get the Senate back in 2008," McConnell said.
The R.N.C. will vote to approve Duncan in January.
