City employees get pay increase

Hazard city employees could see an increase in their paychecks soon.

The city commission approved the first reading of its 2009-2010 fiscal year budget Monday night.

It includes a one dollar pay raise for all Hazard city workers.

City Manager Paul Feltner says its well deserved.

Also included in the budget was the purchase of five new police cruisers and maintenance on one of the city's fire trucks.

Thank God that the police and fire department there are finally getting a decent raise, those guys will still be doing a lot for very little, but at least it is something.
