Group Looking For Ways To Boost Kentucky’s Economy

The Appalachian Regional Commission and Department of Tourism are currently funding a study to see what tourist attractions could boost Eastern Kentucky's economy.

Right now, efforts to development adventure and wildlife tourism as well as the Kentucky Music Highway are in the works.

George Ward, Kentucky's Secretary of the Commerce Cabinet says he wants to develop the area without commercialization. He says maintaining the beauty of Southeastern Kentucky is important

"It's a great opportunity to build the economic development down this way, and the governor is totally behind it, and we're full steam ahead to try to get something done," Ward said.

Ward says he hopes these advancements will attract tourists from across the U.S.
