Guilty of reckless homicide, that's the verdict for a Letcher County man charged in connection with the death of one of his triplets.

An emotional trial comes to an end with Edward Morton getting escorted out of the courtroom and taken to jail.

All this after a jury finds him guilty of reckless homicide and second degree assault in connection with the 2004 death of his 3 month old daughter, and injuries to her triplet brother.

The Thorton community of Letcher County welcomed three babies into the world in 2004.

Quickly making triplets Hailey, Hayden, and Hannah Morton the talk of the town.

That talk turned to tears just three months later, after three month old Hailey Morton died with a fractured skull and broken ribs.

Her brother Hayden had the same injuries, but lived ultimately, it put the babies' father, Edward Morton on trial
and after three hours of deliberations, the jury had a verdict.

Morton's ex wife Desiree Banks testified that Morton told her he dropped the babies.

She previously accepted a plea deal on similar charges.

The jury recommended an 11 year sentence for Morton.

Both Edward Morton and Desiree Bank's family declined on camera interviews, but both groups said they were upset with the verdict.

The Morton's maintaining Edward's innocence and the bank's saying Edward deserved a harsher penalty.

The judge will sentence Morton December 19th.
